Player Bio

Josh Inglis joined Perth Scorchers as a replacement player for Mitch Marsh in BBL|06, before taking them to the final of the tenth edition of the league single-handedly. Scorchers’ runner-up season in BBL|10 is directly proportional to Inglis' career-defining BBL season.

A wicketkeeper and imposing opening batter, Inglis is an Englishman by birth who played for Yorkshire at the age-group level before his family shifted to Perth. He didn’t take too long to showcase his prowess and find a berth for himself at Western Australia.

The Leeds born found his real groove for Joondalup during the 2014-15 Premier Cricket season where he piled up a total of 1137 runs at an average of 66.88. Later, he earned a Warriors rookie contract for the 2015-16 season, where he amazed everyone that led to his Sheffield Shield debut in February 2017.

His consistent numbers at the domestic stage meant Inglis bagged a BBL contract by the Scorchers in BBL|06, although the Englishman made his T20 debut in the 2017-18 BBL season. He remained on the fringes for a couple of seasons, before striking 405 runs at an average of 28.93 and a strike rate of 153.00 to earn himself selection in the BBL|09 Team of the Tournament.

The following season was Inglis' career-defining BBL season, where he formed a formidable opening partnership with Liam Livingstone, and took the Perth-based franchise to the final of the league.

In March 2021, Inglis was signed by Leicestershire County Cricket Club to play in the T20 Blast, where he notched his maiden T20 hundred and then scored another century in that very season. A couple of months later, he received his maiden national call-up when named in Australia's squad for the T20 World Cup.

Inglis fell short to make his international debut at the biggest tournament, but he’ll be making his Australian debut sooner or later - that is for sure. The wicketkeeper-batter just has to keep on translating potential into on-field performances.
