That’s a wrap from our side as well. Oman continued their impressive performance and won their second game in a row. UAE's chances for the next round are looking bleak. I hope you enjoyed our coverage. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Prince Suman, and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. CHEERS!
Zeeshan Maqsood (Oman captain): "We are pleased with the way the boys are playing. They are giving so much effort in every area, our preparation was excellent, and the key has been the players' acceptance of responsibility. Aqib and Shoaib's batting technique was crucial. Ayaan and Nadeem played well later. There was pressure when Shoaib came off and I made a poor shot. However, if you become settled on that track, bowlers are unable to remove you. We need to perform well and keep this confidence going forward because we still have games against Scotland and Sri Lanka."
Muhammad Waseem (UAE Captain): "To be honest, we had a promising start, but our bowling in the middle overs fell short. Our initial target with the bat was to score between 260 and 270 runs, considering the slow pitch conditions. We were on track initially, but unfortunately, we faced a collapse in the middle, with Ayaan being the exception and finishing strongly.

The pitch remained unchanged during the second innings, and we needed to display better discipline both in our bowling and fielding. Although our spinners performed decently, Ayaan and Nadeem displayed impressive skills."
Shoaib Khan (Player of the Match): "It was a good toss to win for the team and we executed our plan very nicely. No, I think the wicket was behaving the same in both innings. Our plan was simple, stay on the wicket as much as possible and when the spinners came we rotate the strikes. Yeah little bit cramp but now I am ok. My partner Aqib gave me good support, told me to stay in the crease and that'll take us to the win"
8:05 PM IST | Deepak: Oman outshined UAE and registered their second victory on the trot in ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. UAE lost their second game in a row and chances for their next round in the tournament now look bleak. Oman thumped UAE by 5 wickets with 24 balls to spare.

Earlier in the morning, Oman won the toss and invited UAE to bat first. UAE started their innings on a lackluster note, as they lost both their openers under 4 overs of the innings.  However, Aravind and Rameez Shahzad stepped up to rebuild the innings, showcasing their determination and skill. The duo crafted a vital partnership of 87 runs for the third wicket, steadying the ship and setting the stage for a competitive total.

Just when it seemed like UAE was gaining momentum, Jay Odedra entered the bowling attack for Oman. The off-spinner proved to be the game-changer, delivering crucial breakthroughs by clean-bowling both well-set batters. Rameez departed for 38, while Aravind fell just short of his half-century with a well-played 49.

UAE faced a minor collapse in the middle overs, but Aayan Khan exhibited resilience and composure. He held his ground till the end, showcasing his skills with an unbeaten knock of 58 runs. His vital contribution helped UAE post a respectable total of 227 runs on the scoreboard. Odedra shone with the ball for Oman, scalping three wickets in 7 overs.

In response to UAE's challenging total of 227 runs, Oman had a shaky start, losing both their openers early on. However, Aqib Ilyas and Shoaib Khan stepped up to stabilize the innings and began the process of rebuilding. Their partnership flourished, eventually reaching the milestone of 100 runs for the third wicket. Oman seemed to be firmly in control of the match at that point.

But the momentum shifted when Rohan Mustafa intervened. The UAE bowler clean-bowled Aqib for 53 runs, breaking the crucial partnership. Oman faced a further setback as Shoaib, who was nearing his half-century on 47 runs, had to retire hurt due to debilitating cramps in his right leg.

Mohammad Nadeem and Ayaan Khan formed a formidable partnership, showcasing their batting prowess and shifting the momentum in favor of Oman. However, there was yet another twist in the tale as Ayaan Khan fell victim to the bowling of his namesake, Aayan Khan, departing after a valuable contribution of 41 runs.

In a surprising turn of events, Shoaib, who had earlier retired hurt due to cramps, made a courageous return to the crease and went on to complete a well-deserved half-century. Not to be outdone, Nadeem also completed his fifty. The duo remained unbeaten till the end and helped Oman register their second victory on the trot in the ICC Cricket World Qualifiers.

On the other hand, Junaid Siddique, and Rohan Mustafa shared a couple of wickets for UAE. Aayan Afzal Khan contributed one wicket. UAE bowlers were good in patches but it was Oman's overall performance and superior cricketing skills that allowed them to dominate the game and ultimately turn the tide in their favor.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation...
