Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Yes, I think it was a good win for us. Important to get the win and get the winning momentum. There will be times when you will be under pressure and have to absorb it and we have to come out on top. We have responded to the moments and it's all about carrying this forward.

Yes, this is what the team is made of. Different players bring different attributes and skill sets and play fearless today. When you have all-round players, everything is possible. Different oppositions will put you under pressure. We need to come to the ground and show ourselves well. We need to focus on the combinations.

We are not bothered about what happens outside and the external factors that come with it. We are here to play and win the game for our side. We have to take it game by game."
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "Yeah, we had the target of 300 in our mind batting first as India have a strong line-up. We couldn't achieve 300 as we lost back-to-back wickets.

Our thinking was that the surface was good and put some pressure on them by scoring big. We wanted to put in a massive total and then come and bowl well. But as I said, we lost back-to-back wickets, and we fell short of the target.

After the three wickets, I told Azmat to keep going and keep staying and not to worry about dot balls or what's happening around.

We have seven more games, and hopefully, we do better, learning from the mistakes we have made so far. We will be coming up with positive intents."
Rohit Sharma (POTM): "Yeah, it was a good pitch to bat on. Just backed myself to play my natural game. I knew once I set my eyes in, that the batting would get easier. It is something that I have been working hard for a while. Very special feeling to get a hundred. And a World Cup hundred is a great feeling.

Very happy about the hundred. But don't want to keep thinking about the records. Still, a long way to go in the tournament. I don't want to lose sight of what is ahead.

It was about making it count on days like this. See, the ball was coming on nicely, and I was in a good rhythm. Sometimes you go by instincts, and sometimes, you just play it on merit. Some of them were premeditated as well.

It is my responsibility to give the team a good start. I know it very well. To put my team in a good position as much as possible is my responsibility, and it's something that I have done for a while, and it's something that I love to do.

It looks good when it comes out. I just try to back my abilities and put the opposition on the back foot. I try to back myself and put pressure on the opponents."
Player of the Match: Rohit Sharma
9:00 PM IST and Local Time: A dominating batting performance from India as they make it two wins out of two games. They win by 8 wickets with 15 overs to spare. It was the Rohit Sharma special as he dazzled under the Delhi lights to score a majestic ton and get India the win. The others played around him to get them the win.

Chasing a tricky 273 for the win, India were off the blocks thanks to their skipper Rohit Sharma who dazzled away with his 31st ODI ton and 7th in World Cup history. He scored 131 off 84 balls. Ishan Kishan who was with him was a mere spectator as he scored 47 off 47 balls at the other end. The opening partnership yielded 156 runs in which Kishan contributed 47. Rohit was dominant today. Virat Kohli got yet another fifty as he scored an unbeaten 55* off 56 balls. Shreyas Iyer also got some time in the middle as he remained unbeaten on 25* off 23 balls. 15 extras given by the fielding side as the match was wrapped up in 35 overs.

Nothing much to speak about for the Afghanistan bowlers. All were taken to the cleaners. It was only Rashid Khan who got both the wickets to fall for today. But he was introduced later on in the piece and the game was as good as over for them.

Earlier in the game, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first. The openers Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran got starts before falling in their 20s. Rahmat Shah scored only 16. Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi played well and top scored with 80 off 88 balls. Azmatullah Omarzai played well and gave good support to his skipper as he scored 62 off 69 balls. Mohammad Nabi scored 19. Rashid Khan scored a quick 16 off 12 balls. Mujeeb Ur Rahman scored 10 off 12 balls. 15 extras were given by the fielding side as Afghanistan ended with 272/8 in 50 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah was the star for India as he was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/39 in 10 overs. Hardik Pandya bowled well and picked up a couple of wickets for 43 runs in 7 overs. A wicket for Shardul Thakur while Kuldeep Yadav bowled a miserly spell of 1/40 in 10 overs. Mohammed Siraj had a rare off day today. Jadeja was economical.

So, India win by 8 wickets with 15 overs to spare to make it 2 wins out of 2 games and move to second in the points table. Stick around for the presentations.

4 FOUR! That's the winning runs. A brilliant way to finish the match! A classic Kohli shot down the ground. Back of a length angling into the stumps. Virat dances down the track and stays leg side of the ball. Thumps it with a straight bat and lofts it over the head of the non-striker. The fielder at mid-on just watches this one sail towards the fence. One bounce and over she goes! Virat deservingly hits the final blow to Afghanistan. India win by 8 wickets and with 15 overs to spare! A massive hammering for Afghan Atalans to take, and this win is the signature of India's dominance!
Second successive fifty for VK in the 2023 World Cup. What a player!
34.5 A Omarzai to V Kohli
2 Short of a length, Kohli pulls it away into the gap and gets it away to the square leg region for a couple of runs as he gets to yet another fifty.
