Okay! Kolkata ticked off! The biggest battle, top of the table, has gone in India's favour! South Africa have plenty to ponder about their chasing tactics. India will fly to Bengaluru for the last league fixture against Netherlands, while South Africa will face Afghanistan in Ahmedabad. India will face the 4th placed team in the 1st semi-final at Wankhede only if Pakistan are not their opponents.

For now, I am AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, Akshay Bhide and Sidharth Gulati, who, alongside our scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Raju Khariya, brought all the live-action of this mega contest from the City of Joy. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!

Rohit Sharma (India Skipper): "Yeah. I think so. The way we played in the last three games, we played quite better. We played according to the situation. We were put under pressure against England but got to a decent score and the seamers did the thing. In the last game as well, we lost a wicket in the first over and then the big partnership before the seamers came into the party. Also today, it was Kohli with the bat, and also not to forget Iyer who helped us get above 300 before the bowlers did their job. We had to hit the right areas consistently.

I would have kept the faith in him. It's important to let the guys know what the team is expecting from them. It's important to keep faith in them. Will not happen always but we have to keep trusting them. The same happened with Shami and is happening with Iyer. He is showing what he is capable of.

Gill and myself have been batting together for a long time now. We let our instincts take over. Not pre-plan anything and if the wicket is good, we play attacking shots.

Jadeja has been really good. A match-winner for us. Playing all formats for us many years now. He goes under the radar but he does the job every time. Very important player and he knows what the team expects from him.

We speak about it in the change rooms. It's important that we not look far ahead. We stay in the moment. When we take the field, give it all and try to win every game. That's what we are doing right now. Thank you."
Temba Bavuma (South Africa Skipper): "It's a challenge to bat second. I'm aware what the narrative is out there about us chasing. I think we didn't do justice to our potential. We couldn't take wickets at regular intervals. The wicket played the way we suspected it to. We couldn't adapt. It's on us now. We need to improve."

Virat Kohli (Player of the Match): "I mean first things first, it was a big game. Probably, playing the toughest team in the competition. There was motivation of wanting to do well for the team. The people made it more special for me. I had a sense that there was going to be more today. One more game in the World Cup.

When the openers start in that fashion, you think it is a belter. But the conditions change drastically. The message from the management was clear. I bat deep and the others play around me and express themselves. On these wickets, you get out and you think instead of 295, it would have been 320. But once we got there, we knew were right on top.

I'm enjoying cricket right now. Even if you are in the middle and score 60-70, you feel happy and enjoy that. I'm happy that god has blessed me again with that enjoyment.

It's quite special. It's all too much to take for me right now. To equal my hero's record, it's quite special for me. I grew up watching him bat and he's perfection when it comes to batting. He is always going to be my hero whatever happens.

It has been an emotional journey for me. I know from where I have come and to stand here and receive that appreciation from him, it means a lot to me."

8:32 PM IST and Local Time: Another day, another cracking performance from Team India, who have set their eyes on the priced scalp! It's better to peak early than not to peak at all.

India thump South Africa by a huge margin of 243 runs in what was a top-of-the-table clash at the City of Joy, Kolkata
! India win 8 games out of 8 games and will stay right at the pole position and have confirmed their semi-final clash at the B-Town in Mumbai.

Another complete performance, both with the bat and the ball, sees the Men in Blue bashing the Proteas, who have been on a special mission without any hiccups so far!

India won the toss and opted to bat first, with Rohit Sharma (40 off 24) going all guns blazing, adding a quickfire 62 runs for the opening wicket alongside Shubman Gill (23 off 24) as the duo dented the Proteas confidence early on. Both Rohit and Gill failed to play long innings, with South Africa slightly heading towards a comeback. While Bavuma took a sharp catch at mid-off to get rid of the Indian skipper, Keshav Maharaj bowled a dream delivery for a left-arm spinner to clean up well-set Gill.

Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer batted out Maharaj's overs, who finished on 10-0-30-1 and took the innings deep with an excellent partnership of 134 for the 3rd wicket. While Iyer took the aggressor's route, Kohli batted the way he bats. Shreyas scored an impressive 77 off 87, hitting consecutive fifties, the Birthday Boy went on to achieve something special as he hammered his 49th ODI ton, equalling the record of Master-Blaster Sachin Tendulkar for the most ODI centuries.

KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav failed to deliver before Ravindra Jadeja and Kohli took India to the end of 50 overs, adding an unbeaten 41 runs for the 6th wicket, helping the hosts to post a huge total of 326/5 in 50 overs. Kohli remained unbeaten on 101 off 121 balls, while Jaddu, Virat's U-19 teammate, remained not out on 29 off 15 balls. Apart from Aiden Markram, all the rest of the bowlers scalped one wicket each.

Indian fast-bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami were superb yet again, keeping the South African batters in the shell. Siraj removed the man in form Quinton de Kock in the 2nd over, with Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma not able to break free.

Ravindra Jadeja (9-1-33-5) was brought into the attack inside the first Powerplay, and the left-arm spinner ran through the Proteas batting order, ending up with a fifer and became only the 2nd spinner after Yuvraj Singh to grab a fifer for India.

South African batters didn't really have an answer to India's top-notch bowling and were bundled out for just 83 in 27.1 overs. Shami scalped 2 wickets, Kuldeep picked a couple of wickets, and Siraj had one under his belt.

India were on their mark, hitting the right areas and getting the most out of the pitch. Spot-on field placements, spot-on reviews and excellent awareness have kept the whole of India smiling as the night deepens!

Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!
