That's it from our coverage of the final group game for the Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Wali Siddique and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Nathan Ellis (Player of the Match): "Been hit and miss with my batting but it's good to get a few boundaries today. It was a good wicket, we got a good total, proud of the efforts of the boys and they put in a good fight despite being out of the BBL. We played some quality cricket, feel disappointed that we couldn't go ahead, wish we could rattle out a few moments in the past. Fairly a bit emotional because we've got a good team."
Nathan Ellis is the player of the match.
5:18 PM IST, 10:48 PM Local Time: The Hurricanes defeat the Melbourne Stars by 7 runs. The record of chasing side winning the last seven games at MCG has been thwarted by the Hurricanes as their bowling line up chokes up runs defending 187 runs after losing the toss.

The openers couldn't get going with both the top order batters departing inside the powerplay for 31 runs. Riley Meredith and Nathan Ellis doing the damage.

Beau Webster at number 3 looked solid and batted throughout the innings, scoring 55 off 43 balls. A better strike rate from him would have helped the cause. Glenn Maxwell started off well but struggled towards the later part of his innings and was well set up by Nathan Ellis.

Marcus Stoinis added 80 runs for the 4th wicket with Beau Webster scoring 48 in 32 balls and was out in the 18th over with 33 needed in 13 balls. Jordan kept nerves of steel conceding only 5 runs in the 18th over with Ellis following with an 8-run penultimate over setting 24 to defend in the final over for Peter Hatzoglou.

Cartwright and Webster both hit just a six in the final over with the latter getting to his half century on the last ball of the match with a maximum. With this win, Hurricanes finish their campaign with 8 points moving up the ladder at number 5 with Stars dropping down at 6 due to a poor net run rate.

The credit for the win goes to the Hurricanes bowling line up with skipper Ellis taking 2/29. Chris Jordan was terrific in his spell of 1/31, Riley Meredith was taken to the cleaners conceding 43 but took a wicket.

Nikhil Chaudhary was impressive conceding 22 in his 3 overs and Peter Hatzoglou playing just second match this season did well to defend 24 in the final over. Stay tuned as we will have some words from the player of the match.
