I think one batter should take on the bowlers, today I got the chance, and I took it. Like I side, I do my basics, I try to bowl at the stumps, and that's why I am successful here."
Dasun Shanaka (Galle Titans Captain): "I think we didn't do basics enough with both bat and ball. They stuck to the basics and credit to Wanindu that they got a good total. 18:21 IST and Local Time: That turned out to be a one-sided affair. Kandy posted a massive total on the board batting first and crushed the Galle batting with the ball in hand displaying total dominance to claim the win.
Coming in to chase a stiff target of 204 runs. Galle had a poor start as they lost wickets at the top. They lost all their crucial batters who needed to score runs for them today in the first half of the innings, and were out of this chase. However, Priyanjan (25) and Samarakoon (36) came together down the order for Galle to stitch a 62-run partnership. The duo helped Galle get past the three-figure mark. But once they were dismissed at the backend, Galle were bundled out in quick time.
Defending their total, Kandy had the perfect start as their bowlers kept changing things up regularly and got wickets at the top. They pushed the Galle side onto the back foot early in this run-chase and registered a comfortable win today. Hasaraga led from the front with the bat as well as with the ball as he registered four-fer. Following him, Pradeep got three wickets, while Rahman got a couple, and Chameera got the wicket of Seifert.
With this win, Kandy now moves up to the top of the points table with six points. Galle have a poor net run rate and gets pushed to the bottom with their loss today.
