12:25 PM IST, 5:55 PM Local Time | An entertaining game results in a season opening victory for Brisbane Heat Women! They defeat Melbourne Renegades Women by 6 runs to begin their season in the best way possible.

Melbourne Renegades Women won the toss and elected to bowl first,
however the decision proved to be a futile one. Grace Harris began her exploits from the first over itself and shortly after the Heat had run away to 46/0 at the end of the powerplay.

Both Harris and Redmayne continued their partnership to smash 77 runs for the first wicket as Harris fell one run short of a deserved half-century. Her opening partner carried on but she too fell one run short of 50 as wickets started tumbling at regular intervals.

But thanks to crucial cameos from Heath, Knott and Hinkley, the Brisbane Heat managed to register a total of 187/9 at the end of their 20 overs. Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers for her figures of 3/30 from her 4 overs.

Come the chase, Melbourne Renegades looking to chase down 188 began the same way as their counterparts. Matthews and Beaumont adopted an aggressive approach to match Heat's powerplay score but both of them lost their bearings in the 6th over to bring two new batters at the crease.

Brisbane Heat despite being smashed for runs continued to pick up wickets fairly regularly, not allowing Melbourne to establish a partnership. Harmanpreet Kaur's 31 runs off 26 balls looked to give them hope but she too perished in the 15th over to put Brisbane in the driver's seat.

Thanks to Wareham's explosive knock of 36 runs off 16 balls, Melbourne stayed in the chase until the last over but ultimately it was Brisbane Heat on the back of Glenn's 4/23 and Knott's 3/33 who sealed the victory and took the points home!
