Dubai Capitals have made the finals of ILT20 and will face MI Emirates in what promises to be a delectable final on Saturday. We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this Qualifier. Time to bid you adieu, on behalf of my fellow commentator Saptak Sanyal, our scorer/statistician Zeeshan Nayer, and me, Sourya Chowdhury. Catch you soon. Good night.
Leus du Plooy (Player of the Match)- "It was good fun out there. Our bowlers bowled really well in the start and glad that I contributed. I just try to stay as busy as possible and avoid playing dot balls. This helps me to keep rotating the strike from one end. I walked into this environment and this is an incredible team. The lads are great and I'm enjoying my time here. I will surely visit the golf course tomorrow for some refreshment ahead of the finale."
Player of the Match- Leus du Plooy
Sam Billings (Dubai Capitals captain)- "A combination of factors has given us momentum. Clarity of thought and sticking to our plans. Little moments have gone our way. Like Sikandar Raza hitting that late six. Those moments have galvanized the side. We have been empathetically honest. Bowlers have bowled to their plans. For batters, one of the top six has to get fifty. That has set the game up. As a captain, I like to do my homework, make informed decisions, read these pitches. Anything can happen in finals cricket. We won’t take anything for granted in the final. We respect their quality and I am sure they respect our quality too. Anything can happen in the final."
James Vince (Gulf Giants Captain)- "I think the home side got a little bit of advantage when the dew came in. We lost a few wickets at the start and that went against us. We posted a below par score and that has hurt us. I think we finished second in the table and that is indeed a great performance. Our boys have performed well with both bat and ball and in the field as well. You know it is an incredibly tough competition. Every team has a quality player in the side. I am happy that our boys have given their best throughout the tournament."
Biggest Six of the Match- Chris Jordan(91 meter)
Time for the post match presentations.
23:09 IST, 21:39 Local Time: Sourya: Dubai Capitals have done it! After a thoroughly convincing performance with both bat and ball, they have won this Qualifier against Gulf Giants by nine wickets to set up a mouth-watering final against the high-flying MI Emirates.
Chasing, what appeared to be a tricky 139 on a two-paced pitch, they made short work of the target. Leus du Plooy (63* off 40) and Tom Banton (38 off 38) were at their imperious best while opening the batting, especially the former, with the two reaching a mammoth 73 in the first six overs. The GG bowlers looked all over the place on the face of du Plooy's assault, as the lanky left-hander timed the ball delectably, placed it beautifully, and powered it handsomely to remain unbeaten till the end.
Banton played a great foil to him before holing out in the deep. The opening partnership was worth 98. Tom Abell (20* off 18) then walked out and got going almost instantly, making it appear a completely different pitch that the one in the first innings.
The only wicket to fall went to Liam Dawson (1/21).
Earlier, GG captain James Vince chose to bat first after winning the toss and his team immediately entered turbulent waters, with the DC bowlers mixing it up nicely, on a pitch that appeared slow. The GG batters were also found wanting in technique against the challenge and were reeling at 62/5, before Vince (58 off 53) and Chris Jordan (30* off 29) put together a fine backs-to-the-wall partnership to resurrect the innings. They batted with gumption, but the loss of acceleration at the start meant they could only help their team to a par score of 138/6.  Most of the DC bowlers were on the mark, the pick of them was Haider Ali (1/18). Jason Holder got figures of 1/7 from 2 overs.
So the defending champs GG are out after losing both qualifers. And DC are now deservingly in the final.
Leus du Plooy finishes things off with a boundary!!!!! The Gulf Giants fell flat to Dubai Capitals and the latter will have a rendezvous with the MI Emirates on Saturday for the summit clash of ILT20 2024.
15.5 Khan to Plooy
4 FOUR! And it is all over. Short, sits up outside off, du Plooy hammers it on the back foot past extra cover to the fence to take his team to the final. What a convincing performance it has been.
