Milestone
That's it from our coverage of the 37th game in Bangladesh Premier League. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Stay tuned for more cricketing action around the world.
Mohammad Mithun (Sylhet Strikers Captain): "The way the boys are playing. All 3 units are spot on. They are a big team and winning against them brings an extra happiness.

180 is always a good total on any kind of wicket. We needed to bowl well in the powerplay. If our main bowlers get help in the latter half then we had a chance.

T20 is a momentum's game. Very short game. We lost early momentum and when we got it, it was too late. Hopefully next year we will comeback strongly."
Benny Howell (Player of the Match): "We played with freedom. Had nothing to lose today. It was nice to follow from our performance in the last game and do well in this one.

In T20 cricket you win some, lose some. The nature of the game is fast paced but if you take the pressure off as much as you can you can play with freedom and confidence and normally that helps.

When you are bowling to Andre Russell, he's probably one of the most destructive batters in the whole world. I tried to hit right lengths and lines in the last over and luckily he didn't hit me for too many sixes and we got over the line."
Benny Howell is the player of the match.
Litton Das (Comilla Victorians Captain): "Whenever you play you have to win the game. I played well but still we lost. We need to improve our batting and bowling. I feel this wicket is difficult for batters to chase around 180. They batted well in the middle. We didn't bowl in 12-16 overs.

This is a slow, two-paced wicket. We batted well but still in the middle we need to hit more sixes. It's not difficult because the foreign players are like family. Hopefully in the next game they will perform well."
4:24 PM IST, 4:54 PM Local Time: The Sylhet Strikers register a massive 12-run win against Comilla Victorians in the 37th match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2024. Strikers batted first and registered 177/5 in 20 overs with Benny Howell starring with the bat.

The defence for Strikers began well as they picked up Imrul Kayes (3) and Towhid Hridoy (17) inside the powerplay. Litton Das played well but took his time to settle at the pitch. Johnson Charles was struggling for runs and added only 12 in 21 balls during a 79-run stand with Litton.

Moeen Ali had the same fate as he was bowled by Howell for a duck. Andre Russell brought some hopes with 49 required off 3 overs scoring 23 off 14 balls but could hit only 3 fours and just 1 maximum in his knock dismissing on the final ball of the match.

Litton remained at the crease till the end scoring 85 off 58 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes but couldn't find any assistance from the other end. For Sylhet, Tanzim Hasan Sakib (3/33), Samit Patel (1/15), Shafiqul Islam (1/18) and Howell (1/36) were the wicket takers.

The result had no impact on the points table as Strikers are already out of the race for the playoffs with just 8 points in 11 games. Comilla still stick to the number 2 spot with 14 points in 10 games.
