Milestone
Time to conclude our coverage from the penultimate league stage game of BPL 2024. Don't go anywhere as we will bring you the updates of the second match of today's BPL double header, the first game of the WPL and the ongoing PSL after this. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off alongside Yogesh Kumar, the scorer/analyst for this game.
Tamim Iqbal (Fortune Barishal Captain)- "I am happy that our team has qualified. Proud of our batters that they have done well, it was a tough wicket to bat on. See somebody will come and add a few runs. I think we could have bowled well to Jaker. I don't want to be harsh with the bowlers, 140 is a total which I will take happily as something easy. Kyle Mayers has been brilliant for us throughout with both bat and ball and we hope that he will continue to do better. I don't look at the leaderboard when a tournament is in progress, hopefully I will look at that once the tournament gets finished."
Player of the Match- Tamim Iqbal
Litton Das (Comilla Victorians Captain)- "It was a difficult wicket to bat on. Lot of appreciations for Jaker as he played a good cameo. We have a few good big hitters in the team and Jaker is one of them. We need to bat well. See, 140 in this wicket is tough and we never thought that we will lose the game. But momentum shifted and it went against us. We withdrew Tanvir from the attack for some reason and I think the two maximums in the Russell's over was the turning point."
16:57 IST and 17:27 Local Time | Fortune Barishal have secured an easy win and have qualified for the play offs as the fourth team in this tournament.

Coming to bat first, the Victorians were struggling to find singles and doubles. Sunil Narine played a lot of dot balls at the start and departed scoring 16. Litton Das also scored 12 runs. Towhid Hridoy's stay at the middle was a bit long but he played 26 balls to contribute only 25 runs. He was well accompanied by Moeen Ali who scored 23 runs off 22 balls. Andre Russell hit a couple of boundary shots against Taijul but got out by him after contributing 14 runs off 11 balls. Comilla Victorians have added 44 runs from the final 4 overs and all the thanks goes to Jaker Ali who mustered 38 runs from 16 balls hitting 2 boundaries and 4 maximums.

For the Fortune Barishal side, Taijul Islam was the star of the show with 3 wickets for 20 runs. Mohammad Saifuddin took 2 wickets for 16 runs and Obed McCoy also took 2 wickets but he was expensive as he gave 40 runs away.

Chasing the run, the Fortune Barishal lost Ahmed Shehzad cheaply but the chase was made steady by skipper Tamim Iqbal. He got the company from Kyle Mayers who was struggling upto a stage. Mayers added 25 runs off 25 balls with 1 boundary and 2 maximums. Mushfiqur Rahim's stay was not a very good one as he played 24 balls to accumulate 17 runs. Tamim Iqbal stayed there and added boundaries in the loose balls to get to his fifty and eventually got out for 66 off 48 balls with 6 boundaries and 3 maximums. Soumya Sarkar came in just after his departure and added a maximum in his first ball. Sunil Narine bowled a fantastic penultimate over but Musfik Hasan failed to defend 8 runs off the final over.

Mohammad Musfik Hasan was the star of the show picking up 2 wickets for 19 runs in his 3.4 overs. Andre Russell and Enamul Haque took a wicket each for the Victorians.
19.4 Hasan to M Riyad
2lb Short of length delivery at the fourth stump line. Riyad gets struck on the helmet missing his pull and the ball rolls to off side for a leg bye single. Litton Das shares some advice to his bowler.
