That concludes our coverage as well, folks! Multan Sultans win the last-over thriller by 5 wickets over Islamabad United. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. CHEERS!
Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans Captain): "I am very happy with the team's overall performances. The way we started at the beginning it seemed like the pitch was a bit difficult, but we batted sensibly and we had wickets in hand. Our bowlers executed the plans and bowled well. Our team possesses a strong balance, with our batters also displaying excellent form. Everyone has performed well so far."
Mohammad Ali (Player of the Match): "It's important to hit the right areas while bowling in this format. You will get the results if you execute the plans.

While bowling here, hitting the top of the off-stump is important. It's important to get wickets with the new ball while bowling at this venue.

The transition from red-ball cricket to white-ball cricket is not that difficult because I feel red-ball cricket is the most difficult format and you have to be very consistent while bowling."
Player of the Match: Mohammad Ali
Energetic Player of the Match: Mohammad Rizwan
Moment of the Match: Jordan Cox
Abbas Afridi: โ€œFirst of all, I want to thank the Almighty as we have won two games on a trot. I just try to execute the plans discussed with the coaches. On these wickets, you have to hit the right lengths. I didnโ€™t hit the right lengths in the first two overs. But corrected it quickly. Umar Gul keeps talking with me after each game and it is helping me. I have worked on my variations.โ€
Shadab Khan (Islamabad United Captain): โ€œYeah, I think we were 10-15 runs short. I just wanted them to express themselves and keep the same attitude.

I think the pitch was a bit difficult. So I wanted to give chance to the proper batters. Hopefully, it will change next time. Coxy is playing well for us.

We just wanted to control the things in the last over. The last over I bowled, if it was tighter, it would have been a different ball game.

We scored 145 but we fought well till the end. Itโ€™s amazing team. I think we have added a strong team. Today was not our day but still we took the game to the last ball and it shows how good our team is.โ€
11:37 PM IST, 11:07 PM Local Time: PHEW! What a game of cricket we have just witnessed! Multan Sultans held their nerve in the last-over thriller and won by 5 wickets on the penultimate ball.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Islamabad United got off to a shaky start, losing both openers cheaply and managing to post just 32 runs in the mandatory powerplay. Colin Munro and Alex Hales were the batters to bite the dust. Following the early wickets, Agha Salman and Jordan Cox paired up in the middle and steadied the ship, adding 68 runs for the third wicket. However, Usama Mir trapped Cox for 41 runs, breaking the budding partnership. Azam Khan and Imad Wasim failed to impress with the bat and departed cheaply.

Salman notched up his fifty but failed to bat till the end, departing for 52 runs, which triggered a collapse for Islamabad United. They started losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 144 runs in exactly 20 overs.

Mohammad Ali shone as the top bowler for the Sultans, taking three wickets while conceding just 19 runs in his four overs. Abbas Afridi also managed to claim three wickets but conceded 33 runs in his 4-over quota. Usama Mir chipped in with a couple of wickets, while David Willey celebrated a solitary wicket.

In pursuit of 144 runs, Multan Sultans lost Dawid Malan for a duck in the first over of the innings. Mohammad Rizwan and Reeza Hendricks batted sensibly and added 71 runs for the second wicket, with Rizwan falling prey to his opposite number, Shadab Khan, after scoring 33-ball 43 runs.

Yasir Khan joined Hendricks in the middle but failed to make an impact with the bat, departing for a mere 8 runs. Hendricks notched up his fifty on the occasion, but he too failed to bat till the end and fell prey to Tymal Mills after scoring 58 runs.

The game went down to wire till the penultimate ball of the match, with Multan requiring 1 run off 2 balls and Iftikhar held his nerve and helped his side win the contest by 5 wickets and one ball to spare. David Willey and Iftikhar remained unbeaten on 7 and 18 runs, respectively, and helped Multan Sultans seal the deal.

Naseem Shah bagged a couple of wickets for Islamabad, while Imad Wasim, Tymal Mills, and Shadab Khan celebrated a solitary wicket.

Stick around for the presentation...
Akshaya: That's what the captains always think. They sense the opportunity, and they want the players to have a shy at the things that have a higher percentage of success.
Akshay: And Shadab thinks that the fielder could have had a shy at the stumps at the bowler's end ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ
Akshaya: Because the plan was to aim at the striker's end ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿคช

1 That's it, Multan Sultans win the last-over thriller by 5 wickets. Yorker outside off. Iftikhar digs it out to point and hares for a single. The fielder inside the 30-yard circle has a shy at the striker's end stumps but misses. A direct hit and things would have been interesting here. Shadab Khan is furious with the fielder for not aiming at the bowler's end with Ahmed nowhere in the picture. Multan Sultans make it two in two.
Akshay: Why there isn't anyone near the stumps at the bowler's end?
Akshaya: Ahhh.... That's cheeky. Lots of discussions between the players around the bowler. Plenty of close in fielders. As a batter, you need to be smart enough to deal this situation.
