So, the Bengaluru-leg of WPL 2024 comes to an end. The action now shifts to Delhi. Do join us tomorrow where the hosts Delhi Capitals Women will be facing the defending champions Mumbai Indians Women. For now, this is Akshayakrishna Polya, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer Raju Khariya. Tata. Good night.
Smriti Mandhana (Player of the Match and Royal Challengers Captain): "I think, after that, the last two matches, we were under the pump. Losing the toss didn't help either. We had to go after the bowling. I think Meghana's knock was important. Later on, Pez (Perry) and Richa went after the bowling. Everything was going well for us. Then the bowlers came out and did their job. I thought of making your (Anjum Chopra's) job easier (chuckles).

(On that dropped chance) Definitely got a little lucky on 26 but I’ll take that because we really wanted this win. The practice was really good, and playing domestic helped as well. It was good preparation, once you get the feel you just need to pick which area to target.

I and Perry were saying to each other that we’ve played together for ten matches but this was our first 50-run stand. We are both experienced enough to recognize which bowler to target. There wasn’t much chat; it was just about executing.

Perry made me run a lot of twos, which was great. The only chat was using the short side, and we thought of seeing Ecclestone off. That chat was really important. A lot of times, she said you will go, you wait and sometimes, she said, you go and I will wait.

We never thought we were out of the game. Chasing 198, we knew they were going to go hard. We had to keep doing things right, target the stumps and at different times, different bowlers took up the pressure and got us the breakthroughs."

11:01 PM IST and Local Time: We are ready with the post-match presentations...
Ellyse Perry: “Look, all games that have been played here have been amazing. It’s great that the crowd has come out in numbers and supported. It’s great to have that kind of support and we are very lucky.

I have played a lot of cricket in the last few months. It works some days and doesn’t. Smriit was hitting very well and my role was to support here. After her dismissal, it was good to hit some off the middle of the bat.

We pride ourselves on our fielding. It’s about getting the right fielders in the right spots. It becomes when there are right-handed and left-handed batters. It was great from the girls.

(On breaking the window glass of the car) I was bit a worried. I don’t have any insurance here (laughs).”
The RCB players are having a victory lap, acknowledging the fans who have come out in numbers to support them.
10:48 PM IST and Local Time: Royal Challengers Bangalore have come on top of a high-scoring game and have finished the Bengaluru leg of the tournament on a high! RCB have come back in the winning ways, while UP Warriorz have gone down for the second time against the Smriti Mandhana-led side this season.

Earlier in the game, UP won the toss and invited RCB to have a bat. There was a change in strategy from the home team, as Sabbhineni Meghana opened with Mandhana, going honkers and bonkers in the Powerplay, adding 51 runs for the first wicket. Meghana (28 off 21) was dismissed by Anjali Sarvani but Mandhana and Ellyse Perry kept ticking the scoreboard, adding 95 runs for the second wicket.

Mandhana was the aggressor in the partnership, hitting 80 runs from 50 balls, while Perry (58 off 37) opened up after the departure of the southpaw in the bowling of Deepti Sharma. Richa Ghosh (21* off 10) provided a perfect finishing to the innings as RCB posted 198/3 in 20 overs, which is the highest-ever total of the WPL.

Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire provided a similar start to the UP chase, adding 47 runs for the opening wicket before Sophie Devine got rid of the latter for a score of 18 from 11 balls. Chamari Athapaththu (to a controversial decision), Grace Harris and Shwetha Sehrawat were dismissed in no time as UP were reduced to 89/4.

Healy (55 off 38) tried to go big and was looking in good touch, scoring a cracking half-century. But RCB picked up wickets at regular intervals and always kept their opponents behind in the run chase. Deepti (33 off 22) and Poonam Khemnar (31 off 24) tried to take the game deep, but the hosts had enough on the board, as UP finished on 175/8 in 20 overs, losing by 23 runs.

For RCB, Devine, Shobana, Molineux, and Wareham grabbed a couple of wickets each. With this win, Royal Challengers Bangalore move to the third spot in the points table!

Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!

19.6 S Molineux to P Khemnar
W BOWLED HER!!! A wicket on the final ball and the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women beat the UP Warriorz Women by 23 runs. Molineux bowls it full and attacking the stumps, Khemnar goes deep in her crease and looks to swing it across the line but misses. The ball hits the leg stump and that's the end of this contest.
19.5 S Molineux to P Khemnar
0 Khemnar premeditates as she changes her stance to switch hit it but Molineux cleverly bowls it shorter and down leg. Khemnar quickly changes her grip of the bat on seeing the line of the ball. She tries to hit it past short fine leg but ends up miscuing it to Ghosh who gets hit on the pads. The ball rolls to short fine leg.
