That's it from our age of the 13th game in the Women's Premier League. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Thanks for joining us. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Beth Mooney (Gujarat Giants Captain, Player of the Match): "Bit too close at the end for my liking. Very stoked to get on the board. Everyone responded well. There were some eyebrows raised when we won the toss and elected to bat first. Mike and I had a long discussion before game about trying to get ahead as early as possible and once I convinced Laura that it was okay. We probably left few runs out there at the end but our bowlers did a great job defending it.

Laura was amazing tonight, took a lot of pressure off me. Hit the ball cleanly from the get go and conventional cricket. We didn't have to force too much. She's a beautiful batter when she gets going so I was really stoked to see her bat.

I'm happy to finally contribute. Its been a pretty tough season so far. We have been on the wrong end on 4 games. It was nice to lead from the front tonight.

Our powerplay was amazing to keep them under 40. Ashleigh Gardner bowled beautifully. Pretty blessed to have a lot of spin options. We have some sitting on the side as well."

Ashleigh Gardner: “It’s plenty of emotions to be honest. We have been waiting for five games and there is a lot of excitement within the group. You can see the girls are happy. A sigh of relief as well.

We just played like we have nothing to lose. It was our best powerplay. We also didn’t lose much wickets. We knew probably we have to score 200 and defend that. It was exciting to see people chipping in at different times.

Shabnam is super exciting. She was in the under-19s winning side in South Africa. She is capable of doing good things. I spoke with her. Her first two overs were amazing and unfortunately, she didn’t get the reward. It was so pleasing to see her go. I personally would like to see her bowl with the new ball. She bowls with a good angle.

We have gained a lot of confidence after tonight’s game. We are closer to a perfect game and will look to carry forward the winning momentum.”
Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain): "We definitely had the chat that they haven’t got to the best of the starts but they have world-class players. But I think 200 was chasable and we failed to build partnerships.

They started off really well. They didn’t take much risks but were scoring at a good run rate. But in the last few overs, we pulled back. It was looking like they would get to 230 but we did well to keep it under 200. I think it’s just about playing good cricket.

I don’t think its about batting first or second. In the last few games, the scores have been good and its definitely chasing above 190 is a tough task.

We have seen Georgia do her thing in international cricket and franchise cricket. It looked like we will lose by a big margin but her knock helped us get closer to the target. Maybe it will help us going ahead in the tournament.”
10:48 PM: The Gujarat Giants post their first ever win in the Women's Premier League by defeating a strong Royal Challengers Bangalore side by 19 runs.

The Giants won the toss, batted first and posted their highest total of the season with 199/5 on the board. Openers Laura Wolvaardt (76) and skipper Beth Mooney (85*) doing the bulk of the scoring.

The RCB chase didn't start off at a brighter note with orange cap holder and captain Smriti Mandhana (24) getting out in the 5th over as Ashleigh Gardner trapped her in front of the stumps.

The powerplay saw RCB score just 39 runs and lost Sabbhineni Meghana in the 7th over. Ellyse Perry chipped with 24 runs and tried to get into a partnership with Sophie Devine (23).

It was Richa Ghosh (30) who hit 5 fours and a six in her 21-ball knock to take the team closer to the target. Georgia Wareham unleashed her wrath in the death overs notching 48 off 22 balls with 6 fours and 2 maximums.

RCB didn't get the required momentum in a big chase with just 34 runs in their two biggest partnerships. There were 4 run outs in the innings with Gardner (2/23) finishing as the pick of the bowlers. Katheryn Bryce (1/26) and Tanuja Kanwar (1/43) picked up a wicket apiece.

The game didn't affect the points table. Giants are still at the bottom of the ladder with RCB keeping their number 2 spot.

Run Out Check. Mooney dislodges the bails and appeals. The decision is sent upstairs. Bisht has dragged her bat in time and she survives. NOT OUT loads on the big screen.
