CSK players with the most Player of the Match awards in the IPL:

MS Dhoni: 15 awards
Ravindra Jadeja: 15 awards*
Suresh Raina: 12 awards
Ruturaj Gaikwad: 10 awards
Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai:

Total Matches: 14

Won: 4

Lost: 10*
STAT ATTACK - Ravindra Jadeja is the first man to achieve a rare treble in the history of the Indian Premier League - 1000 runs, 100 catches, and 100 wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja (Player of the Match): "I didn't know that. Seriously, I didn't know that (on becoming the first player in IPL to score 1000 runs, take 100 wickets and 100 catches)

(On MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina getting the nickname of Thala and Chinna Thala) I think they both got verified, but mine is not yet verified, so I need to ask someone to get it verified. So yeah, hopefully, they give me verification soon. But yeah, playing in Chennai always feels good. I aimed to bowl in the right spots, and when you do that, you're likely to succeed. For visiting teams, it takes time to adjust. Coming here to play and understand the surface can be challenging. We are more familiar with the conditions than the visiting team."
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: RAVINDRA JADEJA
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "Little bit of nostalgia for me. My first 50 in IPL, Mahi bhai was me and we finished the game. With Jinx injured, it was my responsibility to finish. Wicket was a bit tricky but didn't wanted to put youngster into pressure situations.

It was 150-160 wicket if you rotate well and get boundaries. Not a six hitting pitch but a 150-160 pith.

It is what we've been following. Jaddu always comes after the powerplay gives us the momentum in the spin department so nothing much behind the thought.

With this team I don't really need to tell things to anyone in any department. Everyone has made his place and you have Mahi bhai still there and Fleming still there to take on.

I wouldn't say a slow start. In T20 there are times when you nick off 2-3 balls. Sometimes you need a bit of luck to get going and today it was perfect where I could take my time a little bit. Something to talk for experts about my strike rate."
Most Fours of the Match: Ruturaj Gaikwad (9 fours)
Super Sixes of the Match: Shivam Dube (3 sixes)
Fantasy Player of the Match: Ravindra Jadeja (113 points)
Electric Striker of the Match: Shivam Dube (28 runs off 18 balls with the strike rate of 155.6)
Time for the post-match presentation....
The smallest score in the first innings that KKR has recorded against CSK:

108/9 at Chennai in 2019
119/9 at Kolkata in 2013
137/9 at Chennai in 2024
139/8 at Chennai in 2010
Daryl Mitchell (CSK): "It's always nice to play in front of a special Chepauk crowd.

"(On pitch) It was on the slower side. A partnership was needed. We wanted to take the game deep. I'm glad we finished it well.

"(Sunil) Narine's a world-class bowler. It's about coming up with plans to put pressure on those guys.

"It was amazing to witness (Ruturaj) Gaikwad bat.

"There was a turn and bounce. It was about allowing ourselves to be in a position to pull it off.

"Happy to bat at any position. I'm here to win games of cricket and get the job done."
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "First of all, it's deafening out here, but I'll try to express how I'm feeling after the match. Personally, I feel that regarding the wicket, we fell a bit short in terms of assessment despite a phenomenal start in the powerplay. However, after that, we couldn't capitalize on that start. We lost consecutive wickets, and then we weren't able to adapt to the changing conditions as quickly as possible, especially since they completely shifted after the powerplay.

They know the conditions pretty well over here, and they bowled according to their plan. It was a bit tacky, especially for the hard hitters when they came into bat. It wasn't easy for them from the very first delivery. Personally, I felt that it changed tremendously after the powerplay in terms of how we were trying to construct our innings. It didn't fall according to the plan, but there are always great learnings from such situations.

As I mentioned, the wicket completely changed after the power play. We started off looking pretty comfortable. We thought aiming for 160 to 170 would be ideal on this wicket, especially considering the similar conditions in previous matches against RCB. However, losing consecutive wickets made it difficult to maintain that momentum and execute our plan.

We have to go back to the drawing board and learn from whatever we did wrong today. It's just a matter of one match and one inning. So, it's a great learning experience, and I'm glad it happened at the start of the tournament. We'll go back, introspect, and come back stronger."
The most catches by a fielder in the IPL (Non-keeper):

110 - Virat Kohli
109 - Suresh Raina
103 - Kieron Pollard
100 - Rohit Sharma
100 - Ravindra Jadeja*
98 - Shikhar Dhawan
