Milestone
That's it from our coverage of match number 25 in the Indian Premier League. A clinical victory for hosts Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Time to say goodbye. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide, Sidharth Gulati & AkshayaKrishna Polya. Also, on behalf of the scorers and analysts Paras Yadav & Raju Khariya. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
DID YOU KNOW - This is the 9th occasion of Mumbai Indians successfully chasing a 190-plus target, the joint-most by any side in the T20 format. MI are paired alongside Punjab Kings.

Also, this is 11th instance of Royal Challengers Bengaluru failing to defend a 190-plus target, also joint-most in the shortest format. RCB are paired alongside Punjab Kings.
This was the 50th win for Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, the first team to reach the particular milestone in IPL at a venue. Well, this record doesn't include the wins in Super Overs.
Chasing 190-plus targets with the most balls to spare in IPL:

-32 balls MI vs RR, Mumbai (Wankhede), 2014

-27 balls MI vs PBKS, Indore, 2017

-27 balls MI vs RCB, Mumbai (Wankhede), Tonight*

-21 balls MI vs RCB, Mumbai (Wankhede), 2023
Jasprit Bumrah (Player of the Match): "I am very happy with the outcome. The wicket was a little sticky for the first 10 overs. I quickly observed and tried to use it to my advantage. One of those days where all of those things worked in my favour. All the catches went to hand so very happy with the contribution.

In this format its very harsh on the bowlers. You have to have all kinds of skills. This is what I train for. I should not be a one-trick pony or rely just on my yorkers because there will be days where my execution is off so I can rely on other delivery. This is what I had worked on early on in my career. Everyone is doing their research, data and all of that comes in so people start to line you up.

Bowling is tough because you have to have bad days to learn from. Whenever I have had a bad day, whatever has not worked. Next day I have seen the videos, what has not worked, why did it not work, what is the way I have been playing. All of these things you have to be with the curve because nowadays you just cannot come on the day and see okay I will do this, maybe this will work. So you are hoping for success. For me preparation is always the key. You put yourself under pressure in the nets. You bowl to batters who can hit big sixes, you bowl to them. You see how you react to pressure and then you start finding answers. That is very important for me to keep pushing in training and then in gameday you have answers.

I do my research on where the batter is strong. Sometimes the wicket is sticky. You don't need to always bowl a yorker. Sometimes you can use a bouncer or slower ball. Understand where the game is going, what kind of a wicket it is. There is no ego in this format. Even if you bowl 145 but if the wicket demands you to bowl slower balls so you have to do that."
Jasprit Bumrah is the Player of the Match.
Hardik Pandya (MI Captain): "Wonderful. It's always good to win. The manner of the victory was quite impressive.

"The Impact Player rule has given the opportunity to use an extra bowler. It gives me a cushion as well. Always helps to have more options if one of the main bowlers proves costly on a day.

"The way Ro (Rohit Sharma) and Ishan (Kishan) batted, the platform was set. It was important to finish the game early.

"Lucky and blessed to have (Jasprit Bumrah) in my side. He's a special bowler. Practices a lot. His experience and confidence helps.

"Always good to have Suryakumar (Yadav). I've been opposition captain as well against him, it's tough to place field for him.

"As a batter, I'm ready to adapt to different situations."
Super Sixes of the Match and Most Fours of the Match: Ishan Kishan (5 sixes and 7 fours, respectively)
Fantasy Player of the Match: Jasprit Bumrah (157 points)
Electric Striker of the Match: Suryakumar Yadav (52 off 19 balls at SR of 273.68)
11:32 PM IST and Local Time: We are ready with the post-match presentations.
Suryakumar Yadav (MI): "Absolutely, Ravi bhai (Ravi Shastri). It's always good to be back at Wankhede and score some runs under your belt. When the tournament started, I was in Bengaluru (NCA), but my mind was present here in the IPL. I felt like I never left.

When you are chasing a target close to 200, it's important to assess the conditions early, check for dew and make sure that you get off to a good start. Rohit bhai and Ishan Kishan did the job for us, giving us a good start. We knew that once we batted aggressively, we were always in the game.

At the 10th over mark, we only knew that we had to finish early for that net run rate thing.

I just try to play the field. I have practised this kind of shot way too regularly, and now those are in my muscle memory (on freakish strokes he plays). I just go out and enjoy myself. There is no such kind of favourite shot, but since you (Shastri) are asking for it, the slice over backward point is the favourite one.

The team management told him (Ishan Kishan) to go out and enjoy himself. He has worked really hard on his batting and is just enjoying the fruits now.

I haven't faced Bumrah in the nets for almost 2-3 years. I have made it clear to the team management that I won't be playing Jasprit Bumrah in the nets because either he breaks my bats or hits my boots, breaking it (chuckles)."
Faf du Plessis (RCB Captain): "It's a tough pill to swallow. The dew was a big factor. If I win the toss somehow in the next few games, who knows, things might change (chuckles). But full credit to Mumbai Indians (MI). We didn't get enough runs. We made a lot of mistakes.

"When the dew settles in, it's very tough. We tried everything, but nothing worked. We fought with the bat. One thing that we did right that we didn't lose wickets at crucial intervals. The momentum was there. But at the end, it wasn't enough. We might have needed to make 250-plus, but they (MI) made 196 look very less.

"(Jasprit) Bumrah was the difference. As a batter, you want to put pressure on him, but he's so clever with variations. I think he has become even better under the guidance of Lasith Malinga. We would have loved if he was part of our team (smiles). He has got so many options. Hats off to Bumrah! He's an incredible cricketer.

"We need to try to push for 220 to have a chance. In the bowling department, unfortunately, we don't have too many weapons. It's mostly on the batters.

"From a bowling perspective, we have lacked penetration. We have to get them two or three down in the powerplay. It always feels like we are on the back foot after the first four overs."
Virat Kohli has a chat with Nita Ambani, while Siraj and Bumrah share some bromance at the sidelines, with the entire Mumbai Indians' camp going crazy with this outstanding victory over the visitors. VK and Pandya hug at the end of the game.
11:13 PM: Mumbai Indians defeat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 7 wickets in a stellar display, winning their 2nd game of the season. Hardik Pandya won the toss, elected to bowl with RCB managing 196/8 with Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik scoring half centuries. Jasprit Bumrah starred with 5/21.

The chase began on a bright note for MI as Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma went berserk adding 72 runs in the powerplay. Kishan hit 69 off 34 balls (7 fours, 5 sixes) with Rohit hitting 38 in 24. The partnership added 101 runs in 8.5 overs before Kishan fell to Akash Deep.

Impact player Suryakumar Yadav in his 2nd game of the season displayed his class in a 19-ball effort of 52 runs that involved 5 fours and 4 sixes. With just 21 required off 39 balls when Yadav perished off Vyshak Vijaykumar's bowling, skipper Hardik Pandya (21* off 6) and Tilak Varma (16* off 10) were on to finish the job as quickly as possible.

15 sixes were hit in the 2nd innings with Akash Deep getting hit for 6, Mohammed Siraj for 4 of them. Vyshak, the pick of the bowlers (1/32) had an economy of 10.66. Will Jacks on RCB debut and Akash Deep (1/55 in 3.3) picked up a wicket each but proved very costly.

Mumbai Indians now move up to the 7th position in the ladder with Royal Challengers Bangalore tottering behind at number 9 with just 1 win under their belt. MI next play arch rivals Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at the very ground with RCB playing Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on Monday.

Stay tuned for the post match coverage and presentation.
